Communication
Communication may be defined as giving, receiving or exchanging information, opinions or ideas by writing, speech or visual means, so that the material communicated is completely understood by everyone concerned. There can be two broad categories of communication, which are formal and informal communication.
Important Characteristics of Communication:
- Formal communication includes all the instances where communication has to occur in a set formal format. Typically this can include all sorts of business communication or corporate communication.
- Informal communication includes instances of free unrestrained communication between people who share a casual relationship with each other. Informal communication occurs between friends and family and does not have any strict rules and guidelines.
Important Characteristics of Communication:
- It is a 2-way process.
- Communication process happens between or among two or more parties. (Sender and Receiver)
- Communication involves exchange of ideas, feelings, information, thoughts, and knowledge.
- Communication involves mutuality of understanding between Sender and Receiver.
