Safety is the state of being safe; freedom from the occurrence or risk of injury, danger, or loss, being protected against physical, emotional or occupational dangers or events which could be considered non-desirable. Safety can also be defined to be the control of recognized hazards to achieve an acceptable (suitable) level of risk.

Hazards are situation that poses a level of threat to life, health, property or environment. By its nature, a hazard involves something that could potentially be harmful to a person's life, health, property, or the environment.
How to identify hazards: Observation, inspections, complaints, accident/sickness reports.

- Keep floor clear of cords and other things which can prevent free movement
- Place relevant signs whenever persons are required to take precaution
- Wear protective gears example ( bauxite, JPS workers)
- Plug out machinery when not in use or faulty
- Have safety policy and procedure manual in place and ensure that employees are aware of what to do in the event of an emergency
